All,
Our math department is in the process of moving from Edfinity to a WebWork server, which I recently set up. One of the features Edfinity offers is the automatic processing of reduced scores for late submissions. The same thing is possible in WebWork via the Reduced Scoring Date; however, students are understandably confused by how the dates are displayed.
In particular, they are accustomed to seeing a due date and assuming there will be a late window during which they can receive reduced credit. The problem is that Webwork displays the due date as the "Close Date" as in the screenshot below:
Here, the homework's close date is Sept 7, and the reduced credit date is Sept 4. When they see this, they assume it is due on Sept 7, resulting in many students unknowingly starting the assignment during the reduced Scoring Period.
My questions are:
- Am I using the "Reduced Scoring" feature incorrectly?
- If not, could there be a configuration option that links the Displayed Due Date to either (1) the Reduced Scoring Date or (2) the Close Date?
Any other suggestions would also be welcome.
Best,
Geoff
